Project 3: (Transfer Learning)
Project 3 (Transfer Learning)
Transfer Learning for Image Classification using Fine-tuning and Domain Adaptation
Goal:
The goal of this project is to use transfer learning techniques to improve the performance of an image classification model on a new dataset.
Guidelines:
- Dataset: Choose a dataset of images, such as CIFAR-10, MNIST, or any other dataset of your choice.
- Preprocessing: Preprocess the dataset by resizing the images to a standard size and converting them to grayscale or RGB format, depending on the model used.
- Feature Extraction: Use a pre-trained model, such as VGG16 or ResNet, to extract features from the dataset. Fine-tune the last layers of the pre-trained model on the new dataset to improve the model’s performance.
- Domain Adaptation: Use domain adaptation techniques to further improve the performance of the model on the new dataset. Depending on the availability of labeled and unlabeled data, you can use unsupervised or semi-supervised domain adaptation techniques.
- Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of the model using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Compare the performance of the model before and after applying transfer learning techniques.
This project activity will allow you to gain hands-on experience in implementing and training transfer learning models for image classification. You will learn about the key concepts of transfer learning and how it can be used to improve the performance of machine learning models.
