Mariam Lashkhi
Mariam Lashkhi was educated at Heidelberg University, Germany, Georgetown University and Charles University in the Czech Republic, and is also a Donald Rumsfeld Fellow, USA. He has a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy and a bachelor’s degree in information and engineering technologies.
Mariami Lashkhi is an associate professor at the University of Business and Technology and works on the topic “Digital Silk Road”. Her main areas of research are: Digital Silk Road and the role of international financial institutions, integration of Georgia into the European Union digital market, access to finance for startups and women’s involvement in technology – FemTech.
Mariam Lashkhi has more than 13 years of successful work experience in state administration, private sector, civil society and international organizations. She is a member of the Parliament of the 10th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia. As the first deputy chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, she actively works with international partners in the direction of deepening economic diplomacy and integrating Georgia into the European free market.
Mariam Lashkhi is a member of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, the chairman of the Vocational Education Advisory Council. In order to popularize professional education and involve the private sector in it, you are working on legislative initiatives, and you are also a member of the Permanent Council for Gender Equality. As a result of her active work, Georgia joined the UN equality coalition “Innovations and Technologies for Gender Equality”, by which the country made commitments in the direction of women’s economic empowerment and women’s involvement in technology, she is also a senator of the International Business Angels Association.
Mariam Lashkhi is a member of the permanent parliamentary councils for protection of children’s rights and open governance. In 2019, she received the “Women Leader in Government” award for her efforts in building an innovation ecosystem in the country.
Mariam Lashkhi works on publications and scientific articles for publication in Georgian and international magazines and newspapers. Among them is a contributor to Forbes Women.
