With the support of the European Union, BTU, in partnership with a Spanish university, is developing a digital model for academic staff development.
The Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange project VITAL – Virtual Innovation and Training for Advancing Faculty Leaders, Digital Competencies, and Research Excellence has been launched with the support of the European Union and the participation of the Business and Technology University. The project is implemented in partnership with the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and will run for a period of three years.
The VITAL project aims to strengthen early-career academic staff in higher education institutions across Georgia and Ukraine.
It addresses key challenges related to academic leadership, mentorship, digitally and AI-integrated pedagogy, research skills, and the development of digital competencies. Within the framework of VITAL, a sustainable and scalable professional development model will be created, grounded in European values, inclusivity, virtual collaboration, and academic integrity.
The project will deliver training in academic leadership and soft skills, support the development of digital and AI-integrated teaching practices, and enhance research competencies through mentorship and methodological workshops. In addition, it will promote the integration of European values into institutional practices by introducing policy frameworks and inclusive leadership models.
Implemented through five work packages, VITAL will contribute to strengthening professional development systems within universities and fostering long-term, sustainable institutional transformation.
