BTU Library joins the international educational campaign Banned Books Week, dedicated to freedom of expression, the promotion of literacy, and the fight against censorship.
Banned Books Week brings together libraries, educational institutions, publishers, authors, and readers from around the world every year. The main goal of the campaign is to draw attention to books that have been banned or restricted at different times for political, religious, social, or cultural reasons.
BTU Library is one of the active supporters of this movement in Georgia and annually hosts thematic events, public meetings, and discussions that introduce students to the history of literary censorship, the importance of freedom of expression, and the role of critical thinking.
Within the framework of the week, various activities are held at BTU, including:
Discussions of banned books with well known authors and speakers;
Thematic exhibitions and events in partnership with bookstores, such as Palitra L;
Public lectures on literature that has been banned at different times around the world.
