BTU Presented the First-Year Results of the Georgian Tech Olympiads Hub
The Business and Technology University (BTU) hosted an event marking the first anniversary of the Georgian Tech Olympiads Hub, showcasing projects implemented in 2025–2026, results from national and international Olympiads, and the achievements of Georgian students.
The Georgian Tech Olympiads Hub was established at the Business and Technology University in 2025 with the support of TBC. Its mission is to develop a unified ecosystem for technology Olympiads in Georgia, identify talented students, provide professional training for national teams, and support Georgia’s participation in international competitions.
In 2026, Georgia’s national teams won 2 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals, along with 4 honorable mentions, across four international Olympiads. Georgian students successfully competed in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI), and the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI).
One of the most notable achievements was at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI 2026), held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Georgian national team secured 2 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, along with 1 honorable mention. Nikoloz Gegenava and Giorgi Maisuradze were awarded gold medals.
At the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026), held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Andria Vasadze won a silver medal, while Vladimir Frangishvili earned a bronze medal. Nikoloz Melikishvili and Mate Rekhviashvili received honorable mentions.
At the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI 2026), held in Kaunas, Lithuania, Richard Barbakadze and Dimitri Shengelia won bronze medals. At the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI 2026), held in Italy, Gvantsa Khvedelidze received a bronze medal, while Tako Shanava earned an honorable mention.
One of the key achievements of the Hub’s first year was the launch of OLYINFO, a nationwide Informatics Olympiad for school students, which attracted more than 3,000 participants. Following the first and second rounds, 340 finalists were selected across four age categories, with 40 students emerging as winners. The Olympiad aims to promote informatics, develop students’ programming and algorithmic thinking skills, and identify emerging talent in technology.
The event also highlighted Georgia’s historical achievements at international technology Olympiads. Between 1996 and 2026, Georgian participants won a total of 13 gold, 25 silver, and 72 bronze medals, along with 6 honorable mentions, across four Olympiads (EGOI, EJOI, IOAI, and IOI).
The Georgian Tech Olympiads Hub organizes student Olympiads, oversees the selection and training of national teams, and facilitates participation in international competitions. Its activities focus on expanding access to technology education, strengthening student motivation, and enhancing Georgia’s representation on the international stage.
The Hub operates through a partnership between the Business and Technology University and TBC, with the involvement of partner and supporting organizations, including UN Women, the Georgian Artificial Intelligence Association (GAIA), the Georgian ICT Association, EPAM, Lineate, Blox, and McDonald’s.
