Virtual Exchanges – ARIVE: A New EU-Funded Project Launches at BTU
The Erasmus+ Virtual Exchanges project ARIVE (Advancing Research and Innovation in Higher Education through Virtual Exchanges) has been launched with the support of the European Union and the participation of the Business and Technology University (BTU). The project aims to transform research education in Georgia and Ukraine.
ARIVE is built on an advanced, structured, and interdisciplinary model of virtual academic collaboration powered by artificial intelligence. This approach directly addresses contemporary challenges such as digital transformation, limited research capacity, and barriers to academic mobility.
Within the framework of the project, an innovative virtual platform will be developed to provide interdisciplinary research training and mentorship. This platform will significantly reduce geographical and financial barriers, expanding access to research education for a broader audience.
The project brings together universities and research organizations from the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries, working collaboratively to develop:
- Virtual Research Semester (VRS) programs;
- Digital mentorship systems;
- Open-access educational resources.
Through a centralized virtual environment, students and early-career researchers will engage in project-based research, AI-driven learning modules, and international, cross-border academic collaboration.
The project will run for three years and focuses on several key направления, including:
- AI-powered research training in data science, machine learning, and in silico methodologies;
- Structured virtual mentorship and capacity-building for academic supervisors;
- Development of interdisciplinary research networks and strengthening skills in preparing EU grant applications;
- Increasing the participation of women in STEM, displaced researchers, and other vulnerable groups by ensuring equal opportunities and fostering digital and soft skills.
ARIVE fully aligns with the priorities of the Erasmus+ programme—promoting inclusive education, digital transformation, civic engagement, and environmental awareness—while strengthening the role of higher education in advancing knowledge, innovation, and intercultural collaboration.
