Georgia’s National Artificial Intelligence Team will compete at IOAI 2026 in Astana.
Artificial intelligence is advancing at an unprecedented pace worldwide, and Georgia is actively participating in this global process. The full composition of Georgia’s national team has now been announced. The team will compete at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI 2026), taking place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, from August 2 to 8.
Georgia’s team will compete against some of the most talented young participants from 103 countries.
The year 2025 marked a historic milestone for Georgia. The country participated in the international AI olympiad for the first time and won its first medal during its debut appearance. This year, the national team is heading to the competition with even greater experience and ambitious goals.

The team’s preparation is led by Shota Elkanishvili, while the training programme is delivered by Nikoloz Mikaberidze and Luka Darsalia.
The team members have diverse international experience. They include participants in international mathematics, robotics and other olympiads, as well as students who competed at IOAI last year. Despite their different backgrounds, they share one goal: to represent Georgia with distinction on the international stage.

“Knowledge alone is not enough to succeed at an international olympiad. The right strategy and effective time management are equally important.”
Luka Berikelashvili:
“The responsibility is significant, but my main goal is to win a gold medal.”
The preparation of Georgia’s national AI team is supported by the Georgian Tech Olympiad Hub, established at the initiative of the Business and Technology University (BTU) with the support of TBC.
The Hub manages the selection and systematic preparation of Georgia’s national technology teams and supports their participation in international olympiads.
The Georgian Artificial Intelligence Association (GAIA) developed and implemented an intensive eight-month preparation programme for the IOAI participants. Through AI LIGA, the students studied the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced mathematics, and the practical and strategic skills required for international competitions.
The Georgian Tech Olympiad Hub was founded at the initiative of BTU with the support of TBC. The project’s partners include UN Women Georgia, the Georgian Artificial Intelligence Association (GAIA), the Tech Association of Georgia, Lineate Georgia, EPAM Georgia, BLOX and McDonald’s Georgia.
