BTU Started the Academic Year with More Than 250 AI Agents
More than 250 AI agents and AI-certified professors and lecturers: BTU welcomes the new semester with innovations.
Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, BTU has launched an AI certification program for academic staff. The program aims to ensure that academic staff use artificial intelligence tools in the teaching process thoughtfully, ethically, and responsibly. To this end, BTU has made AI competencies an integral part of academic staff professional development and established a valid certification system to formally recognize these competencies.
The certification is designed to ensure that academic staff use AI tools in the teaching process thoughtfully, ethically, and responsibly. The program is structured in stages, while the relevant certification status is granted for one year and renewed based on updated knowledge and competencies.
During the first stage, academic staff completed intensive training covering the opportunities and risks associated with AI, personal data protection, issues related to bias, as well as the adaptation of syllabi and assessment systems for the AI era.
The key practical outcome of the training was the creation of educational AI agents. Each agent is based on the syllabus, lectures, and required and supplementary literature of a specific course. Available to students 24/7, the agents support a better understanding of course materials, explain complex topics, provide additional examples and exercises, and help students assess their own knowledge.
Unlike general-purpose AI tools, the content and functionality of each educational agent are created and controlled by the lecturer responsible for the specific course.
Through this model, BTU integrates AI into the teaching process not as a replacement for lecturers, but as an intelligent resource created and controlled by the lecturer. At the same time, the AI competencies of academic staff will be regularly updated and formally validated through the certification system.
